The icon of the Madonna di Montevergine stands out from all the others for two main reasons. First the face of the Mother of God would be according to tradition an icon written by St. Luke and would come from Constantinople.
While the rest of the body that depicts it sitting on a throne is a picture added over time. I define the face of the Mother of God as an icon because it is represented according to the classical criteria of iconography while the rest of the body has forms and perspectives that do not belong to the tradition of icons.
Pious images bring religious beliefs to mind. If you wish to receive the one of the Miracle of Our Lady of Montevergine in 1256 or if you wish to share your experience with the Madonna of Montevergine. Please write us by email : montevergine1256 at gmail dot com
